The Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) was established by the Law on Protection and Rescue ant its work started in 2005 is an independent state body. Among others it is responsible for Protection and Rescue of people, the environment, material goods, etc. It is well equipped and it participates in ARGOS consortium.

Greek Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC)
The Greek Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) is the national regulatory authority, responsible for the control, regulation and supervision in the fields of nuclear energy, nuclear technology, radiological and nuclear safety and radiation protection. GAEC is governed by a seven-member Board and is currently employing 78 persons; most of which hold higher education degrees, postgraduate qualifications and specialization skills in scientific knowledge and expertise.

Alexander Technological Education Institutes of Thessaloniki (ATEI)
Alexander Technological Education Institutes of Thessaloniki (ATEI) aims at providing quality education in technological applications. The transition of technology from theory and research to real applications is the ultimate goal. The recent focus is on technological applications and research.
The Laboratory of Radiological Measurements-Department of Automation Engineering has two gamma ray spectrometry systems, handheld radiation detection instruments and all necessary peripheral electronics. Department of Automation Engineering expertise in electronics, computer engineering, systems engineering and mechatronic. It was established in 1989 following the needs of industry and science for specialization in this scientific field. The Laboratory of Geomechanics has great experience in the field of the project and is fully equipped.
The ATEI has great experience in research and development projects with experienced and capable scientific personnel. It is being in the eligible area and is the partner that is closer to the borders of the Programme area. It was chosen as lead beneficiary due to its capability to coordinate better the project and its plurality in scientific personnel from many different scientific areas relevant to the project.

Initiative for constituting an Engineering Institution (EI)
The initiative for constituting an Engineering Institution (EI) was born immediately after the liberation after the Second World War. The Association of Engineers and Technicians was founded in May 1945
The organizational structure of the Association of Engineers and Technicians at that time was the following:
- Local subsidiaries – as basic units, and
- Professional sections for specific vocational questions which in 1951 become republic professional associations of engineers and technicians.
In 1960 the republic professional associations of engineers and technicians became republic professional confederations of engineers and technicians. The name of the association changed again in 1995 when it became Institution of engineering scientific associations and organizations and this name lasted until 1999 when it changed into Engineering Institution
Today the Institution consists of 16 participants: with different engineering subjects from 1). Association of Traffic Engineers, till to 15) Association for Information and Communication Technologies ICT-ACT.

The scientific staff of the Nuclear Technology Laboratory of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (AUTH) implements a scientific activity mainly on the subjects of environmental radioactivity (measurements-models). The laboratory is equipped with the state of the art instruments for the project’s actions.
